摘　要：

 中国古典小说名著在朝鲜时代的境遇，可大体分为三种：其一是作品在中国本土热度平平，但在朝鲜半岛却如日中天，如明初瞿佑的《剪灯新话》；其二是作品在中国本土和朝鲜半岛都大受欢迎，如《世说新语》《三国演义》；其三是作品在中国本土热度极高，但传入朝鲜半岛后却受到冷遇，如《水浒传》《红楼梦》。之所以产生这种差异，或由于特殊的时代机缘，如《剪灯新话》在中国本土长期被禁，“壬辰倭乱”激发了朝鲜时代民众对《三国演义》的热爱；或由于上流社会的追捧，如《世说新语》《剪灯新话》备受朝鲜时代知识精英甚至王室的青睐；或由于语言形式的差异，如《水浒传》《红楼梦》用白话写成，而朝鲜时代的知识精英比较熟悉文言却难以读懂白话；或由于文本的表达风格，如《水浒传》《红楼梦》就比《世说新语》《剪灯新话》《三国演义》更容易被误读。

 

The Three Patterns of Reception of Chinese Classical Novels In the Joseon Dynasty

Abstract The Chinese classical novels can be broadly categorized into three types regarding their receptions in the Joseon dynasty (Korea): Firstly, works that enjoyed moderate popularity in China but achieved immense acclaim in the Korean Peninsula, exemplified by Qu You's Jiandeng Xinhua (剪灯新话) from the early Ming period; Secondly, works that were widely celebrated both in China and the Korean Peninsula, represented by ShiShuo Xinyu (世说新语, A New Account of Tales of the World) and Sanguo Yanyi (三国演义, Romance of the Three Kingdoms); Thirdly, works that enjoyed great popularity in China but received comparatively little attention in the Korean Peninsula, such as Shuihu Zhuan (水浒传, Water Margin) and Honglou Meng ( 红楼梦, Dream of the Red Chamber). Several factors might contribute to these disparities. One is unique historical circumstances; for example, Jiandeng Xinhua was long banned in China, while the Imjin War (Japanese invasions of Korea, 1592-1598) fueled the Joseon populace's fervor for Sanguo Yanyi. Another is elite patronage; both Shishuo Xinyu and Jiandeng Xinhua were highly esteemed by the intellectual elite and even the royalty in the Joseon dynasty. A third is linguistic barriers; as Shuihu Zhuan and Honglou Meng were written in vernacular Chinese, proved challenging for Joseon scholars more accustomed to classical Chinese. The last one might be textual styles; the narrative and expressive features of Shuihu Zhuan and Honglou Meng are more subject to misinterpretation compared to those of Shishuo Xinyu, Jiandeng Xinhua, and Sanguo Yanyi.
